Systems Analyst-Clinical

Yonkers, NY

Position Description:

 The Systems Analyst will provide technological consultation and assistance to users of ancillary clinical information systems (OB-GYN, OR, PACU, Radiation Oncology) including:

-        Analysis of user needs and requirements

-        Application installation and testing

-        Application problem resolution

-        Troubleshooting clinical equipment/application/network/communication/usage issues

-        User training

-        Writing user documentation

·         Interface between the departmental users/clients and the various divisions of MIS

·         Provide day-to-day operational support for ancillary clinical systems for several departments

·         Triage network/workstation/hardware related issues

·         Coordinate modifications to multiple applications

·         Provide advanced application troubleshooting support

·         Write test plans, perform unit and integration testing and coordinate user testing

·         Resolve and re-test identified errors and problems

·         Conduct training sessions for users

·         Assist with workflow redesign and procedural changes

·         Assist with devising and documenting system designs

·         Recommend improvements and increase efficiency of the IT systems and users

·         Assist with coordination of vendor activities including hardware and software installation

·         Test new systems, version upgrades, interfaces and other system modifications

·         Provide 24 x 7 on-call coverage for user support

·         Travel throughout all facilities within the Montefiore Medical Center hospitals and other Emerging Health IT clients, as needed

·         Perform other related duties.

Technical Skills Required:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics or a related field.

·         Experience will be considered in place of a degree.

·         Experience with Clinical Information systems and clinical departments’ workflows including L&D, OR, PACU, Radiation Oncology, etc.

·         Prior experience with Fetal Monitoring systems a big plus

·         Strong problem solving and analytical skills

·         Strong technical skills including multiple operating systems, modalities and clinical systems

·         Report writing and modification skills    

·         Interface development and testing skills

·         Understanding of DICOM, DICOM RT, HL7, IHE and other health related standards

·         User training experience

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

·         Excellent interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, peers and management

·         Ability to analyze data and make recommendations

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·         Work well in a team environment

·         Excellent follow up skills

·         Must be adaptable in a rapidly changing environment

·         Must be able to multi-task effectively

·         Strong documentation and organizational skills

·         Medical technologist / IT background a plus
