JOB SUMMARY:

Job Summary:

The Applications Developer designs, develops, and enhances the firm’s internal applications. This person will work on any of the current internal applications, i.e. CAM, DealTracker, DocServer, Intranet, or personnel administration. They must be willing and able to take ownership of the components they are assigned and apply their technical expertise and ingenuity to arrive at the best solution that solves the business requirement. Significant independent thought is required of this position.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Provide support for internal applications and other information systems and is responsible for supporting those same software applications. Provide operating system and web development support to the network operations group. Independently research technologies, makes recommendations, and implement solutions in all matters pertaining to application development. Develop programming interfaces to third party software which integrates with internal applications. Interface with end users to determine requirements. Provide general consulting support to all functional areas of the firm in matters related to third party software selection and implementation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have good communication skills, especially verbal. Must be able to comprehend complex business requirements and translate those into a design and then into a programming solution. Must be able to work in a small team and take responsibility for a project from design to test and implementation. Must be highly self-motivated and proactive.

Must have the following technical skills:

Java (at least 3 years experience) 
 Java swing experience
Work with Java's JDBC classes with specific knowledge of how to use bound queries.
SQL (at least 2 years)
 PL/SQL; Oracle Database experience a plus.
A strong working knowledge and understanding of the concepts of designing tables and data structures in relational databases.
Proficiency in working with Linux or Unix systems.
Strong shell scripting knowledge is a plus
Web
Have a working knowledge of JSP or other web content languages
Have a working knowledge of JAVASCRIPT/ AJAX /HTML (1-2 years)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Computer Science or related degree strongly preferred
Minimum 3 years experience in skill areas required for this position
Financial Services experience a plus
