Systems Engineering Consultant

Position Summary

Performs various tasks related to the installation, configuration and ongoing support of Microsoft Technology Solutions for SBS’ new and existing clients.  Tasks are delivered in accordance with the business process objectives established by the client and SBS.   The Systems Engineering Consultant performs such tasks in a sequence as specified by a project plan and under the direction of a supervisor.  The Systems Engineering Consultant identifies and alerts their supervisor to project risks that arise in the course of performing their work.  Among the tasks a Systems Engineering Consultant may perform include hardware installation, network operating system installation and configuration, application software loading and setup, testing, user training, system administrator training and user documentation, and client support.

Education Requirements

·         Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably business or technology related discipline.

 

Job Requirements

·         Minimum two years consulting experience as Systems Engineer with Microsoft Technologies

·         General knowledge of network servers, network design, server operating systems, storage technologies, disaster recovery technologies.

·         Ability to install, upgrade, and configure Microsoft SQL Server

·         SharePoint knowledge, including best practices for SharePoint installation, upgrade, configuration, and architecture. 

·         Installation/upgrade knowledge of business application software such as:

o        Microsoft Dynamics SL, GP, CRM software

o        FRX

o        Crystal Reports

o        Microsoft Project

·         Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint effectively

·         Work and provide systems engineering services in a team environment.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Focused and committed to provide superior customer satisfaction.

·         Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for continuous learning.  Prior Microsoft certifications preferred.

·         Must be willing to travel occasionally.

·         Valid driver’s license

 

 

 

Responsibilities Overview:

·         Performs various tasks to design and install network servers/workstations, operating systems, and application software (collectively network infrastructure) to support client’s business solutions.

·         Troubleshoots, supports and repairs client’s network infrastructure as needed to support client’s implementation.

·         Provides documentation on network infrastructure configuration conforming to SBS standards.

·         Orchestrates stress tests, security tests and other user-acceptance tests of implemented solutions.

·         Must be able to expertly translate business and client requirements into solid and stable network infrastructure solutions.

·         Understands and adheres to all Project Plan and Scope documents developed by Project Managers.

·         Executes Project Task items in accordance with defined Project timelines.

·         Provides timely feedback to Project Managers and/or clients.

·         Completes technical training and company orientation as required to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.
