Systems Engineer


This role will be responsible for the enterprise VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft server architecture. We are looking for a well-rounded individual who has a breadth of knowledge and experience with designing and managing virtual environments running enterprise applicatio
ns and using storage networks. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual that prefers to be involved with all aspects of systems engineering in a complex environment.


• Be responsible for the archetecture and management the server systems at Burns & Wilcox
• Research, design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot virtual environments running enterprise applications
• Ensure that the performance, high availability, and security of the server infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards by using established best practices
• Support users and internal support staff by a variety of methods and provide technical expertise and mentoring by verbal and/or written means
• Mentor junior technical teammates
• Research, design, implement, and manage IT systems based on Microsoft, Citrix, and VMware server products such as but not limited to vSphere, XenApp, Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, and SharePoint.
• Research, design, implement, and manage HP & Dell server and Equallogic storage systems
• Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking
• Work closely with IT staff and business units
• Troubleshoot issues with internal customers and external entities
• Mentor junior technical teammates in all aspects of systems administration
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Exhibit professional behavior


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related sciences
• Current Microsoft MCITP certification or 5+ years designing, managing, and securing highly-available Windows 2003/2008 environments and related server services (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File/Print Services, IIS, Cluster Server)
• Current VMware VCP certification or 3+ years designing, managing, and securing highly-available VMware environments
• Current Citrix CCA certification or 3+ years designing, managing, and securing highly-available Citrix environments
• Experience implementing and managing server and application monitoring systems
• Experience implementing and managing Dell Equallogic storage systems is a significant plus
• Experience implementing and managing Microsoft System Center is a significant plus
