THE OPPORTUNITY: Systems Integration Lead

LOCATION: Hampton, VA 23605





Job Description:







The Raytheon Information Solution (RIS) Research Computing and Advanced Engineering department located in Hampton, VA, provides research support and engineering services for various NASA Aeronautics and Space programs. The department is responsible for the development and maintenance of the NASA Langley Airspace and Traffic Operations Simulation (ATOS) research system, one of the largest distributed simulation systems in the world. The ATOS system consists of multiple workstation-based aircraft simulators networked together. Under the auspices of the Joint Planning Development Office (JPDO) Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) initiative, NASA uses ATOS to conduct research into the feasibility of advanced Air Traffic Management (ATM) concepts.







The Integration Lead will perform and lead the system integration, verification, and validation of the Airspace and Traffic Operations Simulation (ATOS) research system. Actively collaborate with the NASA and Raytheon Research & Development team on the development the Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and system requirements. Define the test case scenarios and corresponding test procedures to properly validate the ATOS system and subsystem requirements. The Integration Lead is responsible for the production of the system test plan and execution of the integration, dry-run and sell-off of the ATOS system to the customer. A lso be responsible for supporting system demonstrations to internal and external customers. As part of the process, verify daily builds and perform software code merges required to properly handle configuration management of the software and the build system.







Required Skills:

-

Must have a BS degree in a related field or possess equivalent experience in lieu of a degree



-

Must have a minimum of 6+ years related systems integration and validation engineering experience



-

Must have strong background and experience with system requirements traceability, system integration, test case generation, validation and verification



-

Must have demonstrated ability to write clear and concise system level documents, test cases and test plans



-

Must have experience with execution of system test procedures, validation of software and formal sell-off



-

Must have working knowledge of the Rational tools (e.g.: ClearCase, Rose)



-

Must have strong communications and customer presentation skills



-

Must have ability to work in a fast paced research environment







Desired Skills:

-

Knowledge of air traffic management technologies and systems



-

Familiarity with advanced research concept in air traffic management



-

Modeling and simulation systems and technologies experience



-

Understanding of transport aircraft flight decks and avionics, flight management systems, 4D trajectory prediction
