Goodrich Sensor and Integrated Systems is a leader in advanced Air Data Systems technologies. Our innovative technologies and growth have promoted the need for a Senior/Principal Systems/Software Engineer.
This position will be responsible for the development of state of the art Air Data Systems for commercial, military, regional and business aircraft. Five years experience at the systems/Software level with strong leadership skills is expected.
Broad based system design and development background (electronics, software, avionics) with a preferred focus on modern avionics integration.
The Systems/Software Engineer will need to work with limited written and verbal direction, monitor and direct the work operations of team members, and be motivated to expand the product base of the Air Data Product Line by identifying high value solutions for our customers.
Job duties:
- Joint Development of new Aircraft Systems with existing and new customers
- Define high-level functional requirements using established processes. Establish design requirements traceability using DOORS.
- Development of complex sub-system trade studies, algorithms and error budgets.
- Develop high level modeling and/or code based on requirements to support hardware/software partitioning, trade studies, and overall design using C and Matlab. Use analytical tools to predict total system performance.
- Perform C Code design tasks, according to RTCA DO-178B Level A standards, for new and existing Air Data System products.
- Assist in development of System Description Documents, Certification Test Plans, Common-Mode Analyses, and other documents required for aircraft certification.
- Support FAA, EASA, Transport Canada, or other Certification Authority interfaces.
- Establishing and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Avionics level system integration test creation and execution.
Experience in the following areas is strongly desired:
- Complete Systems Development Life-cycle: design, development, integration, and test
- System level requirements definition taking into account:
- Customer requirements
- Design assurance determination using SAE ARP 4754
- FAR/JAR 25 regulations including AC25-11
- Software level requirements definition taking into account:
- System level requirements
- Certification activities according to DO-178B
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required. Customer interaction and Certification activities for new Air Data System products are critical objectives for this position. The Systems/Software Engineer will need to be comfortable in negotiating with Customers and Certification Authorities when discussing requirements for our products.
Some travel (~10%) is required for this position as necessary to support certification meetings and customer design reviews.
The position requires a BS in Software, CSE or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience, or an MS and five years' experience
Preferably Avionics or Air Data System Technical Knowledge
Preferably Avionics or Air Data System Certification Experience
Competencies: Microsoft Tools, Project Scheduling Tools, Strong Technical Writing Skills, Matlab, C/C++ or Visual Basic programming skills, DOORS, Strong Oral Presentation Skills, Strong Inter-Personnel Communication Skills, knowledge of aircraft electronics for analog and digital processing, aircraft protocols (ARINC-429) and interface definition.
Avionics Project leadership experience a plus.
