Sr Systems Programmer
Position description
Systems administrator capable of quickly assimilating the intricacies of a complex production environment, maintaining and deploying multi tiered applications, and participating in project implementations. Will be part of a small team responsible for supporting the infrastructure for multiple business units, with effort distributed across production support, and project tasks. Must be technically strong, adaptable for changing priorities, and results oriented.
Job Responsibilities
• Install/upgrade/patch, configure, monitor and tune Unix systems running AIX and Redhat.
• Day to day support of system software such as JBOSS, WebLogic, Apache, UC4, Sonic MQ, WebSphere MQ, TSM, nagios.
• Support of custom tiered web applications, data replication and performance reporting applications.
• Troubleshooting for problems in production environment, batch abends, performance issues.
• Incident response and remediation for client impacting events
• Frequent deployment of custom code in support of client commitments.
• Project tasks for new system implementations.
• After hours and weekend support during on call rotation.
Requirements
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 5 years of Unix systems administration/application support and/or development.
• Experience supporting applications in a 24x7 critical uptime environment a necessity.
• Experience in IBM LPAR technology desired. Scripting experience desired.
• Experience supporting systems running Sybase and/or Oracle desired.
• Experience in financial services and/or Application Service Provider/Software as a Service provider environment preferred.
• Must be comfortable with implementing corporate policies and procedures, change control, and audit compliance standards.
• Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast paced, high pressure, team environment.
Systems Analyst
Position description
Systems Analyst adept at assessing capabilities and identifying risks with regard to established service level agreements for a service bureau environment with 24x7 uptime requirements. Will have responsibility for resource utilization analysis, capacity planning, business continuity assurance, audit compliance and deployment management. Must have a broad technical background, be detail oriented, and have excellent communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning and capacity planning
• Installation, maintenance, and tuning of UNIX hardware and software systems
• Prepares installs, and implement UNIX operating software and associated components
• Support of IBM pSeries, and IBM BladeCenter H.
• Monitors compliance with system maintenance and patching policy
• Conducts regularly scheduled business continuity drills to insure failover/redundant systems are fully functional
• Software and hardware licensing tracking, contract renewals
• Tracks and reports on continuous improvement tasks
• Tracks and reports SLA performance and presents remediation plans to address deficiencies
• Incident response/resolution/remediation
• Deployment management and coordination across organization of impactful changes
Requirements
• BS Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent in education and/or experience.
• Excellent communications, organizational, and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to lead and able to work with multi-group projects
• Working knowledge of IBM AIX (5+ years) operating systems, and network technologies.
• Overall knowledge of the hardware and software components of UNIX operating systems
• Overall knowledge of storage technologies
• Experience writing/implementing policy and procedures including change control, audit compliance, business continuity plans, technical strategies
