TECHNICAL WRITER- MILITARY/AVIONICS

About the Job

We have a client who is growing once again and is looking for a Technical Writer, specifically someone who has experience with writing  Military(DoD) technical manuals and publications.


 


In this role you will be responsible for researching and analyzing technical requirements and interface with Program Managers and engineering staff to develop technical manuals and publications. This includes translating engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas of designs which result in completed deliverable documentation to the customer. Familiar with the development of training materials including operator and maintenance manuals supporting training activities. Coordinate interdepartmental activities associated with the editing, composition, preparation and delivery of publications in accordance with applicable specifications, standards, and other requirements.


 


Responsibilities:  Collect, verify, and organize product technical information and data. Generate product/program documentation including training materials, technical data packages, operator and maintenance manuals, etc.  Evaluate Military and Commercial Statements of Work to ascertain documentation development requirements.  Assess and incorporate recommended documentation corrections and changes.  Conduct proof reading of technical documentation to ensure accuracy.  Ensure confidentiality of vital company trade secrets and information.  Perform other duties as assigned.


 


Requirements:   A degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.  3 - 5 years directly related experience.  Working knowledge of engineering and/or technical support functions.  Strong understanding of MIL-STD required for document development.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse group of engineers.
