Position Summary:
Provides services for transactional taxes related to all MAQUET Business Units which include sales & use tax, personal property tax, business registrations and annual reports.
Position Responsibilities:
• Prepares and files sales and use tax returns, personal property tax returns and creates all applicable journal entries as applicable.
• Maintains supporting documentation for above returns and updates of sales tax rate changes.
• Corresponds with sales tax auditor for tax issues and audits.
• Prepares requested supporting documentation for use in various sales and use tax audits.
• Maintains and analyzes sales tax accounts.
• Maintains a monthly compliance calendar for the taxes employee is responsible for.
• Makes decision regarding the validity of tax exemption certificates that are completed by customers.
• Responsible for filing sate business licenses and annual reports as necessary.
Position Requirements:
• A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business is required.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in sales and uses tax is required. Three plus years experience is preferred.
• Prior experience with tax software such as VERTEX or TAX WARE is required.
• Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and be a self starter.
• Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word and PowerPoint or equivalent software applications is ideal.
• Prior experience with RIA/CCH Sales Tax Research Library is preferred.
• Prior experience with SAP is ideal.
