GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Tax compliance, including handling sales, use, and property tax matters, business license applications and renewals, state annual reports, and related administrative matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparation of sales, use, and property tax returns filed on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis.
• Responsible for submitting business license applications and renewals, as necessary throughout the year.
• Responsible for submitting state annual reports, with due dates occurring throughout the year.
• Assist with review of sales tax settings in legacy sales system, compiling corrections to be made, and monitoring settings on an ongoing basis for consistency and accuracy.
• Monitor tax news services for developments that may impact our business operations and/or tax filing positions
• Communicate and interact professionally with internal and external contacts
• Assist with projects requiring analytical and organizational capabilities
• Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned by Tax Manager
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• 2 or more years Tax related experience required
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word)
• Vertex software experience a plus
• Oracle software experience a plus
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must pass background, credit, and drug checks
