The team lead oversees the activities performed by a team of Default Recovery Services Lender Support Specialists and Account Information Specialists and provides the necessary leadership to achieve the collection goals. Oversight of the management of collection accounts within the DACCS Case Management System, monitors and improves quality, coaches staff members and prepares reports which aid in the efficient operation of the Collections Department. Ensure compliance with the following Laws, Regulations and Acts: Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA), Federal Privacy Act, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communication Commission, Telephone Collection Practice Act as well as corporate policies and procedures. Administers the team’s collector incentive plan and ensures crediting complies with the departmental and corporate policies. Maintain and promote outstanding customer service levels.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related discipline. Experience in a supervisory capacity or the student loan industry may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Two or more years proven supervisory experience preferably with a large collection or financial organization. Minimum of two years experience in the administration of the student loan program or similar financial environment. Must have the ability to positively impact and motivate a team of Lender Support Specialists and Account Information Specialists responsible for obtaining over 60% of TG’s revenue. Must possess organizational skills and be able to multi-task. Must be able to comprehensively participate and contribute with the management team strategies and plans that will maximize productivity, efficiencies and collections. Must have interpersonal abilities that will allow for a productive internal and external environment with subordinates, borrowers, management, senior management, and all sub processes. Must have some computer and technical expertise.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Collections experience is preferred. Thorough knowledge of the FFELP programs is preferred.
