Business Development/ Technical Sales Engineer

National Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of deep drawn metal enclosures is currently seeking a talented, Business Development/ Technical Sales Engineer as we continue to expand our business.  Reporting to Vice President of Sales & Marketing, this position will be responsible for championing the business development efforts as follows:

Job Description:

·         Interact/ engage with the customers from the time the Request For Quote (RFQ) is received

·         Facilitate conference calls between customer and National Technical teams for developing a better understanding of the customers’ technical and commercial requirements

·         Champion/ Coordinate the cost estimating process from start to finish by working with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality and Sales to generate the pricing proposal

·         Communicate the pricing proposals to the customer

·         Gather valuable information/ insight required to convert the pricing proposals into purchase orders 

·         Follow-up on qualified customers and opportunities in a professional and timely manner

  • Travel to tradeshows and customer sites as required (willing to travel 25% of the time)

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in medical, aerospace, battery, military markets preferred
  • Associate or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Need to demonstrate the capability of developing a good technical understanding of our process and competencies.
  • Should be able to interpret the customer’s engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong sales prospecting skills
  • Interested in the “hunt”, not deterred by rejection.
  • Strong telephone and customer relationship skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working autonomously and part of a skilled, high performance team
  • Strong PC and internet research skills-MS outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Familiarity with ACT or similar CRM software preferred
  • Able to respond appropriately in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrates flexibility by adapting readily to changing priorities
  • Thorough with quote process with attention to detail
