The Team:
Share your knowledge and passion for GIS with our customers around the world! As a member of our Educational Services team, you’ll have the opportunity to help our customers continue to learn about GIS and ESRI technology, whether by teaching a class in our regional offices or developing content for a Web-based course. We are seeking dynamic individuals who are subject matter experts with an education in GIS-related fields and experience with ESRI software.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Educational Specialists and other staff to design, create, edit, and publish educational content that meets quality standards and instructional objectives.
Evaluate content in relation to project objectives and provide recommendations for improvement.
Provide constructive feedback and guide the work of authors to improve their writing skills.
Copyedit content, marketing materials, and Web pages to improve clarity and effectiveness.
Proofread text to identify and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and confirm that it complies with ESRI trademark rules.
Review and edit graphics to ensure they conform to quality standards.
Conduct usability testing of the software exercises to verify they meet quality standards.
Review educational content deliverables for completeness and make sure they are ready for publication.
Requirements
Bachelor’s in English, journalism, technical communications, or related field.
Minimum of one year of technical editing or technical writing experience.
Excellent grasp of spelling, grammar, and punctuation rules and style conventions for published materials.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively on team projects and establish positive working relationships.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, manage time, and prioritize tasks to accomplish project goals and meet project deadlines.
Comfortable with learning new technologies.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint), graphics software, and Web technologies.
Recommended Qualifications
Minimum of two years of editing documentation for a highly technical audience.
Knowledge of GIS and ESRI software.
Knowledge of instructional design or teaching strategies.
