GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Technical Lead/Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for a variety of complex professional duties that ensure the IT department’s mission and objectives are met. This includes, but is not limited to, administration of core production server systems, information systems, and technology infrastructure. The Technical Lead/Senior System Engineer works independently to develop and maintain the integrity and security of Linux and Windows servers and systems as well as performing other IT related duties as needed. Therefore, candidate must possess strong experience in Linux and solid experience in Windows system administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration of production server systems, information systems and technology infrastructure.
Maintaining operation stability; enforcing security measures, testing, developing and deploying new hardware, software, and related technologies
VMware design, setup, installation, and configuration
Production support as needed - participate in a 24x7 on call rotation
Providing user training, technical documentation and support as necessary
Perform code deployments to production systems
Track efforts using internal system to aid in capacity planning and customer resource utilization.
Managing new technologies and quickly resolving any associated problems.
Emergency response as needed to correct system failures by participating in an on-call rotation.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by IT management.
Qualifications:
Related Experience:
§ 6+ years of professional work with Linux and Unix server operating systems (Redhat, SUSE, Solaris, HPUX). 3+ years of professional work with Window; Mac OS X a plus
§ 4+ years deploying technologies such as Apache, Oracle Application Server, etc
§ 3+ years deploying technologies such as Weblogic, Websphere, etc.
§ 2+ years with implementing high availability cluster and/or load balancing technology
§ 2+ years administrative scripting with PERL/Shell.
§ 2+ years implementing system-level security procedures and industry standards.
§ 6+ years of experience maintaining servers that provide standard services such as LDAP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP and S/FTP service.
§ 6+ years experience with server hardware and components
§ Experience in larger (150+) server environments
§ 4+ years of overall systems administration experience
Knowledge / Skills / Ability:
§ Effective communication, organizational, time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
§ System-level security procedures and industry standards; Familiarity with cryptography tools (e.g. secure shell, OpenSSL, IPSec), and OpenSSO/Federated Identity Management
§ Talent at diagnosing and remedying serious server related problems and failures promptly and effectively
Formal Training or Education:
Bachelors degree in information technology (or related field) or equivalent experience. Project Management Experience a plus
