Position Title: Technical Sales Representative Houston, Tx
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Industrial-International Sales, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise while developing sales with new and existing customers in the Industrial- International Department.
Work with customers on technical issues, while developing sales of new and existing rice and flour products.
Find prospective new customers for new value added products.
Work with Director of Sales on projects to determine prospective line of new products and applications of those products.
Make sales calls to customers by phone, emails, customer visits, process inquiries, providing technical information and samples.
Maintain and increase sales to existing customers by working with buyers and R&D personnel on applications and product development.
Work with order service department to insure required international documents are prepared and made available.
Be aware of international export requirements and logistics.
Visit customers in the US, Canada and Mexico, prepare and give presentations, market up dates and attend trade shows.
Prepare price sheets and quote customers, negotiate and maintain contracts.
Resolve service or quality problems, coordinate and respond to quality complaints.
Coordinate and follow-up on customer’s requests and special projects.
Prepare sales reports and summaries, departmental analysis, complete customer forms, surveys and reports as needed.
Monitor accounts receivable, collect past due accounts, request customer credit reports, collect cash in advance checks.
Coordinate advertising to include scheduling magazine ads; keep spending within budget and production of new ads. Responsible for contracting the booth and booth setup at the annual IFT meetings.
Requirements:
Education: Technical degree preferred in Food Science or related field, business curriculum beneficial.
Prior Work Experience: Prefer 3 - 5 years of technical sales experience in food or beverage fields. Account experience helpful.
Skills and Abilities:
Proven ability to accomplish increased levels of responsibility. Ability to work with customers on short and long term projects. Must have good communication skills and be able to work with all personnel at various levels. Ability to learn general product knowledge and specifications. Basic computer and email experience. Learn and operate on a daily basis in an SAP environment
