Technical Service Specialist - Newburgh, NY

Nalco has an opening for a Technical Service Specialist in our Water and Process Services Group located in Newburgh, NY.  The Technical Service Specialist will primarily be responsible for providing on-site customer service in accordance with the Standard Service Package or Service plan. This service includes field chemistry tests, chemical feed and control equipment maintenance, chemical inventory management, technical recommendations, and written service reports. This is an expansion position due to tremendous growth in the job location area.
 
Other Responsibilities include:
  • Maintains a relationship with key customer personnel and takes full ownership for account retention.  This includes contract renewal and price increase responsibilities.

  • Increases sales by selling new chemical, service and equipment solutions to existing customer base. This requires creativity and ingenuity in devising solutions to customer problems and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision

  • Manages up to 100 customer accounts and $800,000 in an efficient "route based" manner.  This requires strong time and territory management skills and disciplined work behavior. 

  • Utilizes support from the Hub Manager, Service Supervisor, Inside & Outside sales team, and Nalco corporate to assist in maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Assists with on-site customer training utilizing Operating Training materials at assigned accounts.

  • Completes required field documentation and reports (i.e., Standard PSRs, Time Tracking, Service Schedules, Expense Report, etc.) in a timely fashion as determined by Company policy and departmental procedures.  

  • Work with Hub Manager and Service Supervisor to manage and maintain inventory of chemical, equipment, and parts in Hub Warehouse for on-time delivery to customers.

  • Responsible for all aspects of safety on the job, including the operation and maintenance of assigned company vehicle, the compliance with Nalco Safety, HAZMAT & Product Stewardship policies.

  • Travels as required


The minimum qualifications the candidate will have include:  
  • High School Diploma

  • 2-4 years related service experience and the ability to interact well with customers

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems required

  • Ability to lift and move heavy loads and operate a forklift

  • Direct Sales Experience preferred

  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
