    Technical Specialist (Windows/Intel)

    Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Windows/Intel Technical Specialist (Wintel) for its Irving, TX location.

    In this role, the individual is a member of the Application Hosting Group within the Group Information Technology global infrastructure team and functions primarily in a technical strategy and lifecycle management focus.

    Lehigh Hanson is one of the world's largest suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry. We produce aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed and precast concrete, asphalt and cement-related materials and a range of building products including concrete pipes, concrete pavers, tiles and clay bricks.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS

    The individual will be skilled and have significant experience working in a data center environment and will be responsible for the following technologies:

    • Intel-based server computing hardware, including blade servers, HP DL and ML series, and Dell 2900 series platforms
    • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems – Windows Server 2003 as a requirement, Windows Server 2008 preferred
    • Server management and monitoring toolsets, applications and processes
    • Logical security design directly related to servers, services and shares

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Leads or participates in Wintel server-related technical projects through the project life-cycle, including management of project resources and project reporting, to ensure that projects are completed on time and in budget

    • Architecture, design, configuration, installation and documentation of new systems
    • Development of processes and procedures that support and provide direction for the ongoing operation support of the server infrastructures
    • Authoring and maintaining of support documentation
    • Develops and participates in disaster recovery planning and testing
    • Work closely with Service Delivery Organization in transferring operational ownership of existing and future systems
    • Provide knowledge transfer and training ongoing to the SDO staff
    • Provide 3rd level escalation support to the SDO for incidents and problem management
    • Participates in server consolidation planning migrations to concentrated sites, and other server-based strategy planning efforts
    • Conduct feasibility studies, create white papers, develop business cases, and deployment strategies
    • Makes recommendations to IT management on direction and utilization of technologies.
    • Extended hours, weekend work and travel is expected
    • After hours support – “On-call” and “as called” responsibility is expected

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technical-related field or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of 6 years I.T. experience in an enterprise data center environment and 4 years experience deploying, managing and supporting Wintel server systems
    • Proven ability to work with all levels of management throughout the organization and develop business partnerships.
    • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and related services
    • Experience working with virtualization technologies including Microsoft Virtual Server and VMWare
    • Experience in backup technologies, solutions and processes
    • Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution
    • Experience with project management methods and tools
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify solutions to root causes
    • Knowledge of systems productivity tools and their configuration
    • Experience in project management tools and processes
    • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills

    Willingness to travel – minimum international travel as and when required
