Technical Support Analyst

Malt-O-Meal, the nation’s fourth largest cereal manufacturer, supplies a full line of branded cereals to all retail channels. The company currently produces ready-to-eat cereals, hot wheat cereals, and a full line of oatmeal products. The company operates production facilities in Minnesota, Utah, North Carolina and Iowa.  Various distribution centers supply the customer base throughout the United States.

JOB FUNCTION

Configure, install, and repair end-user hardware and printers, and support end users in the use of hardware and software; serve as on-site liaison with the rest of IT and assist with network and telecom administration

JOB ACTIVITIES/DUTIES

1.      Deploy, troubleshoot, and repair end-user devices(PC, PDA, …) and printers in primary facility and remote facilities as necessary.

2.      Assist end users with hardware, software, and network problems through direct contact and through Help Desk

3.      Serve as a primary initial contact for end-user hardware and software problems for users on-site

4.      Serve as on-site liaison between local staff and IT staff

5.      Perform administration of phone and voice mail systems as necessary

6.      Work with IT staff to maintain adequate parts and supplies for the support of PCs and printers, UPS units, network hardware, etc.

7.      Work with other IT staff to support end users and in the deployment of new applications, systems, and directives; assist with data backups

8.      Other projects as assigned by IT Technical Support Supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:       Associate Degree or equivalent experience.  Thorough knowledge of PC hardware operation and maintenance; in-depth understanding of MS Windows operating system, knowledge of printer repair, familiarity with LAN concepts.

Experience:     Five years PC and LAN support.

Skills:   Ability to diagnose and solve hardware problems, operating system and applications software problems.  Ability to configure PC hardware peripherals including PDAs, printers, projectors, disk and CD-ROM drives.

     Ability to install, clean and repair printers.  Ability to troubleshoot LAN connectivity issues.  Ability to work with IT staff to support network devices, UPS, etc.  Good communication and organization skills important for end-user support.
