Summary
Perform process engineering activities, including simultaneous engineering, project management, plant launch support, process continuous improvement and other product/process assurance planning activities.
Major Duties of Position
· Enthusiastically support and contribute to GEMA’s World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Program and tools.
· Responsible for the initial phases of tool engineering, including a determination of the complete tooling required, cost estimating and obtaining competitive bids from vendors, in this extensive CNC machining and electrical controls environment.
· Based on specifications, determine which manufacturing operations will be performed and in what sequence. Determine for each operation the number and kind of machine tools used, including fixtures and gauges. Determine proper feeds and speeds for each machine to ensure HPE productivity targets are achieved.
· Develop plant layouts for placement and arrangement of machinery and equipment. Prepare specifications for architects and major contractors.
· Engage in the initial phases of quality engineering and determine quality control methods, procedures and techniques to control and improve product quality.
· Conduct studies using advanced statistical methods and techniques for solution of quality problems.
· Floor support addressing downtime issues.
· Support Dynamometer and Cold Test Operations
· Actively participate in GEMA’s employee suggestion program – Innovation by Suggestion.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
· Minimum of a Bachelors Degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
· 3 – 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, with some knowledge of current engine plant manufacturing processes, technology and tooling and equipment activities. Some exposure to simultaneous engineering with product and/or process engineering suppliers. Must possess some experience and knowledge of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment.
· Dyno & Test knowledge – test functions, setup and statistical analysis of test results and waveforms
· Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with a variety of people at all levels within the organization.
· Self directed, team oriented with demonstrated planning/problem solving skills.
· Experience and working knowledge of computer systems and software required.

Working Environment
· Normally an indoor manufacturing environment
· Noise level is moderate to loud requiring hearing protection in certain areas on the floor
· Safety glasses are required at all times on the production floor
· Weekend/rotational work may be required
Organizational Alignment
· This position will report directly to the Operations Manager
· This position will have limited direct supervisory responsibility.
