Technical Solutions Support Specialist

The Solutions Support Specialist position assists customers throughout KARL STORZ North America by providing end to end technology support. The Solutions Support Specialist will perform problem analysis to provide value solutions to the business. Duties include Service Desk and Deskside support, client systems and configuration, as well as solution documentation. In addition, this position provides local on-site support for Network, Systems and Telco Teams. this position reports to Enterprise Technology Services as a part of the regional IT support organization.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support for the North America Region including Service Desk, Deskside, and IT Operational support.
  • Provide first response to IT related issues. Coordinate with staff and ETS administrators on system issues.
  • Provide Desktop Support to all KARL STORZ North American customers. Act as a first line for troubleshooting software applications such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Office 2007 Professional, SAP Client, Spyware and virus intrusion, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Thin Client, and all other KARL STORZ standard desktop software.
  • Provide on-site Network and Telco support including maintaining IDF, patching in network data ports, troubleshooting network connectivity and Avaya gateway issues, and installing network and Telco hardware.
  • Provide user training/education one on one and in classroom environments on company standard software products.
  • Install and configure new and upgraded desktop and laptop computers for both local and remote users.
  • Maintain IT Service Desk systems by logging in, responding to, and closing assigned IT related incident and requests from end users utilizing the Remedy Service Desk application. Ensure proper documentation and solutions of all incidents and changes into Remedy.
  • Maintain site specific technology inventory.
  • Support IT meeting needs (audio/video conferencing).
  • Act as a Service Area Expert (SAE) to provide project, coordination, analytical or technical services to the Service Desk team.
  • Act as a Business Department Coordinator to coordinate IT and department activities.
  • Troubleshoot problems on desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and printers.
  • Must be able to interact with others, including potential customers.
  • Provide and maintain documentation of procedures as requested by department supervisor or manager.
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Four year college degree, or equivalent level of experience.
  • 2-3 years experience in a Call Center Service Desk environment.
  • 5-7 year experience supporting laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices in a Deskside Support role.
