Technical System Administrator (Clarity)

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the PPM Tool Manager, this position will be responsible for Clarity application configuration, system maintenance, and Level 3 end-user support for the Clarity user base. The Technical System Administrator will work as part of a project team and / or process improvement effort and will partner with the IT Central Support Team to support the ABC Clarity environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs application configuration changes using all Clarity Administration Tool functions such as Clarity Studio, Organization and Access, Project Management, Data Administration, Finance and General Settings.
  2. Provides Level 3 trouble-shooting support to Central Support Team for any user administration or security issues encountered.
  3. Performs application diagnostics utilizing both the Clarity Admin and Niku System Administrator (NSA) tools; examples of system diagnostics include verification that financial job processing occurred, investigating why data is or isn’t showing on specific portlets and reports, or validation that all services are running.
  4. Coordinates with appropriate IT or external vendor team to manage the XOG (XML Open Gateway) process for rolling out application changes across multiple Clarity environments.
  5. Manages product upgrades including cross-team and cross-vendor coordination of all relevant activities such as application of software, testing, user communication, and implementation schedules.
  6. Understands Resource, Project, and Portfolio Management processes as they apply to use of Clarity and ensures application configuration and its use appropriately supports these processes.
  7. Responsible for maintenance of system design documentation.
  8. Provides support for Clarity portlets showing project and portfolio data; includes publishing, configuring and trouble-shooting existing portlets showing and determines when the business requirements require development of new portlets or reports.
  9. Participates in the PPM Change Review Board, analyzing business requirements and suggesting functional and technical capabilities within Clarity.
  10. Investigates system issues and bugs and suggests remediation options; serves as point of contact for interface and escalation of issues to IT and Vendor Support teams (general Level 3 Support).
  11. Modifies application configuration files as needed to integrate with training / support software (CAPA interface).
  12. Understands and monitors Clarity Reports & Jobs such as timesheet processing, datamart extraction and summarization, and financial processing and their successful completion.
  13. All other Clarity duties that may be assigned based on ABC requirements.
  14. Performs related duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

Requires a BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant business experience; normally requires a minimum of four (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience in an IT applications development or system administration support role; Clarity application configuration and support such as Clarity Studio, NSA, Clarity Data tables is a significant plus.
