Technical Writer, Army (32171)

Description

Writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. May be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 0-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Please note this is a 4 to 5 month contract position.



Required Skills

The candidate will work within a large team to prepare performance support tools including standard operating procedures, Frequently Asked Questions, and instructional material. 

 

  1. Proven ability to write detailed, user-friendly operating procedures for transactional and conceptual processes.
  2. Experience creating/managing multiple procedural documents simultaneously.
    1. Experience interpreting flowcharts and converting them to text-based explanations.
    2. Excellent writing and spelling skills.
    3. Ability to work as part of a highly-structured team.

10. Desirable, but not essential:  Experience creating and/or managing Communities of 

      Practice or learning portals (COPs).

11.  Desirable, but not essential:  Experience creating performance support tools.
