Description

The Proposal Writer will be responsible for the formatting and editing of all aspects of technical responses to federal government RFPs. Additional duties include adhering to proposal development, review, and production schedules. The candidate will

  • Substantially contribute to proposal content as a technical writer. 
  • Assist or lead in the development of specific proposal sections to meet specifications outlined in the RFP. 
  • Review sections of the proposal, provide comments for improvement, and coordinate flow of information between multiple contributors to maintain consistency. 
  • Coordinate with production specialist to ensure completion and delivery of completed proposal response. 
  • Work closely with team members and/or teaming partners to ensure that a high quality proposal response is completed on time. 
  • Perform copy editing and proofreading of all proposal content to rapidly produce clear and accurate documents.
  • Develop, update, and maintain proposal information data resources to include but not limited to resumes, past performance, contracts data, and technical and management plans. 
  • Provide innovative ways to support the technical staff during the proposal effort as they continue to support their clients. 
  • Develop technical section outlines, story boards and other documentation associated with proposal development. 
  • Assist in developing departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and standards for capture and proposal management. 
  • Contribute to and implement ideas for improving department efficiency.

The candidate must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet proposal deadlines.



Required Skills

Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism, or related field is required. The candidate should possess

  • Willingness to work in a team member capacity. 
  • Solid communication skills and ability to produce high-quality documentation. 
  • Must have the ability to interact with all levels of staff, especially mid to senior-level management; solid experience with the MS Office Professional Suite is required. 
  • Must have experience in desktop publishing/editing using Microsoft Office tools; excellent writing and editing skills are required. 
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task; knowledge of Government contracting practices preferred. 
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Experience responding to Federal and Defense procurements and/or proposal development for private industry or Government contracting is desired; responding to or requesting Government or commercial grants is also acceptable. Familiarity with all phases of the proposal response life cycle is desired. 



Required Experience

5 - 8 years of professional experience.
