Role Summary :
The PC / Network technician manages a variety of technical support needs through remote / onsite methods, in a timely, professional, client service focused manner, within a casual and challenging team environment.
Key Objectives:
Technicians are required to accomplish IT related tasks including troubleshooting, repair, support, installation, consulting and maintenance of desktops, laptops, servers, network and related devices. Strong working knowledge of operating systems and standardized business software applications; including custom client applications but, primarily Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Technicians must posses “hands-on” technical experience with all areas of computer parts replacement including; diagnostic, testing, removal and compatibility knowledge. This may include working with manufacturers directly to obtain replacement parts for equipment which has been discontinued, obtaining replacement parts under warranty, and/or selecting new parts for upgrade / transitions.
Technicians must be technology driven and goal orientated with an accommodating and friendly personality. Technicians must have the ability to work well with numerous clients whose concerns and priorities will vary and differ. Technicians must possess excellent communication skills that reflect patient and courteous responses to all client requests.
Technicians must be able to research and provide educated and knowledgeable solutions to client’s products and services needs. This includes initial preparation of equipment lists, services, designs, schematics pricing and other materials. Technicians will work with a sales support member to finalize and prepare any quotes, reports or other documentation which will be prepared and submitted to the client.
Technicians are required to provide technical support and repairs through verbal communication, remote and on site methods. Technicians may be assigned to different client sites based on volume and current needs. Technicians will be required to travel from our office directly to the client’s site as instructed and scheduled. Technicians must have a flexible schedule and may be required to work additional hours as required by the client’s needs and upon request from management.
Standard Requirements
· 2 - 5 years experience in a professional / corporate environment.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Accredited college degree (2 or 4 years) or Technical education
equivalent.
· Strong written and communication skills.
· Strong client service, attitude and initiative.
· Ability to adapt to a changing environment with multitask
assignments.
· Strong hardware and software skills.
· Daily and accurate completion of service tickets, time tracking and
related paperwork.
Primary Requirements
· 2 - 5 years experience in IT environment.
· Hands on experience with desktop, laptop, server and related
hardware repair and replacement.
· Hands on experience with complete systems integration. Specifically
design, configuration and assembly of desktops and servers. RAID
configurations and SCSI device knowledge required.
· Experience with all phases of backup systems and related
requirements, including set up, configuration, assessments and
monitoring and troubleshooting tasks.
· Experience with all phases of network design, integration and repair.
Including routers, hubs, switches.
· Experience with all phases of firewall implementation and
maintenance, primarily SonicWall.
· Experience with all phases of telecommunications services including
cabling, wiring and the ability to assess client’s needs, Ability to
order, deploy, and manage voice and data services including install
coordination with our partner suppliers.
· Experience with Microsoft networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
and Active Directory.
· Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Terminal
Services, and Remote Desktop.
· Experience with wireless devices and troubleshooting connectivity
issues.
· Experience with Microsoft Server 2003, Server 2008,Exchange
Server and Microsoft Virtual Server.
· Experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems installation
and support.
· Experience with operating systems and standardized business
software applications; including custom client applications but,
primarily Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
and Microsoft Office applications.
· Active pursuit and successful obtainment (upon management
request)of the IBM/ Lenovo Certifications, A+ Certified Engineer,
MCSE Engineer, CCNA Engineer, or other. Training and testing
paid for by employer.
Advanced Skills (Not Required)
· NEC, Avaya, Nortel, Cisco, Novell,Groupwise, Lotus Notes, VMware,
Asterisk, Linux troubleshooting and maintenance.
