Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will be primarily working in the Employee Relations area of the HR department.  The Human Resources Generalist will support decision-making process; provide guidance, consultation and assistance to management and employees on employee relations matters; and ensure compliance with government regulations reporting requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent  oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required with the proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local government compliance regulations.
  • Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration or related field of study;
  • 3- 5 years of human resources generalist experience (in lieu of a degree 5-7 years of Human Resources generalist experience will be considered).
  • 2-4 years of employee relations experience. 
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office applications, experience with Front Page a plus.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist supervisors/managers with decisions regarding issuing corrective actions or performance improvement plans.
  • Coach/council employees with issues.
  • Assist with investigations as needed (harassment, discrimination, etc.)
  • Update the Employee Relations metrics on the HR Dashboard.
  • Prepare and coordinate the information needed for New Hire Orientation; and present during New Hire Orientation.
  • Process Worker’s Compensation claims, provide follow-ups on injuries, discuss issues/questions with our insurer, maintain a good relationship with our providers and complete wage statements as needed.
  • Discuss terminations with supervisors/managers; process when needed.
  • Perform exit interviews with employees who are voluntarily leaving the organization. Provide data to the departing employee’s supervisor/manger.
  • Process unemployment claims.
  • Prepare document for unemployment hearings.
