Territory Manager – Central & Southern Iowa

The Role
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers seeks a sales professional with “iron in the blood” who would like to be our Territory Manager to serve our customers across central and southern Iowa. Ideally this person will be based in Des Moines or Cedar Rapids, and will report to the Regional Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In this role you’ll be responsible for maintaining existing customer relationships as well as developing new business. This territory enjoys a solid customer base and tremendous individual growth potential for the candidate who possesses strong skills in forging new relationships.
The Requirements
· At least 3 years professional sales experience, ideally in a position related to heavy construction equipment.
· An excellent current working knowledge of heavy construction equipment that perhaps was gained in a retail-selling environment with an equipment distributor or through rental sales.
· You have the ability to meet or exceed goals without ever sacrificing integrity.
· You are a natural at developing and maintaining honest customer relationships. To be successful at this role, your interest must not lie strictly with making the sale but in real, honest relationship building with your customers. If we ask them about you, they’ll call you a friend.
· You have excellent prospecting and new business development skills, plus a proven ability to succeed in a competitive environment.
· You are entrepreneurial by nature and one of your key strengths is your ability to manage your territory as though it is your own business.
· You have exceptional communication and presentation skills.
This job will require you to:
· Attend 9 to 11 auction sales within the region where you’ll meet with your customers and your colleagues a few times a year.
· Travel approximately 2 to 3 days per week to cover the territory and 2 to 7 days to attend each sale
· Work primarily from a home office and on the road.
