Test Engineer 2

About the Job

Under general supervision, is primarily responsible for writing, analyzing and reviewing test plans, writing and performing test procedures and writing test reports. Must possess good troubleshooting abilities from component to system level. Makes suggestions for changes to the test plan to aid in fully testing the systems. Must be able to assist in evaluating new hardware and software designs for any potential errors, and also will be required to assist in locating problems to either hardware or software. Must be able to assist in the development and writing of test plans and procedures. The ability to write test scripts, keep logs of board/system defects and integrate new systems and software is desirable. Be able to be flexible in shifting work priorities. Assist in providing training to customers, engineers and technicians. Must be willing to travel and provide field support when necessary. Set-up and run equipment demos when required.

 

Examples of Work:
1. Assist in writing and running productions ATP’s.

2. With minimal supervision, be able to isolate software and hardware problems.

3. Assist in troubleshooting hardware problems.

4. With minimal supervision, set-up and test new system GUI’s and hardware.

5. Run regression testing for new software releases and report discrepancies.

6. Assist engineers in setting up their hardware, dubbing tapes, test cables, etc.

7. Write test scripts to test the functionality of different products.

8. Assist in writing new test procedures.

9. Assist in troubleshooting new hardware designs.

10. Communicate with Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that programs are running on schedule.
Qualifications:
5+ years of directly applicable experience or 4 year degree (BSET, BSEE).

Working knowledge of UNIX and C or C++ programming.

Possess good communication and written skills.

Have good troubleshooting abilities from system to component level.

Experience with telephony and related products are desired.
