This is a entry level test engineer position. The candidate will learn and participate in the test execution of functionality and system level testing, and reporting defects and status on leading edge Brocade Fabric Operating System (FOS) releases and Storage Area Network (SAN) switches.
· Works with other test engineers on test configurations and associated equipment (test engineers have access to large switch count fabrics) to execute testing.
· Will perform testing on Brocade FOS.
· Reports defects and works with other test engineers and developers to validate fixes and close issues.
· Works under the guidance of other engineers to make best determinations for test activities.
Responsibilities:
· Work with the test lead executing the test cases per an system / OEM Test Specification
· Test embedded networking software for Fibre Channel and Ethernet systems.
· Develop and conduct functionality, compatibility, interoperability, manageability, serviceability, scalability and system performance testing for all Brocade products.
· Build and maintain test facilities that are based on state-of-the-art Enterprise Data Center equipment and software applications.
· Work with cross-functional teams to develop product test/system qualification plans and to resolve problems.
· Constantly look for ways to increase efficiency and productivity through automation and improvements in test methodology.
Qualifications :
· Qualified candidates should possess a strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems and software systems with any background in Fibre Channel, TCP/IP, and SANs desired.
· The ideal candidate will have some experience with:
o operating systems (Linux / Windows / Solaris)
o embedded systems
o storage devices (disk, arrays, enterprise class storage products, tape)
o NIC or host bus adapters (HBAs)
o use of FC or TCP/IP test tools (ethereal)
o Scripting experience (Ruby, Java or Tcl) a plus
Technical Competencies:
· BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or related technical field.
· Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and Fibre Channel protocols.
· Experience with UNIX/Linux or Windows environments, embedded systems and TCP/IP.
· Extensive experience programming in C, C++, Java, HTML, and/or Perl
· Strong problem-solving and adept verbal/written communication skills
· Ability to drive collaborative efforts effectively across multiple disciplines
· Troubleshooting ability
