Test Methodology Specialist located within the Pilot Plant Testing Group of UOP's Research organization in Des Plaines, IL. The Test Methodology Specialist will work with pilot plant management and customers to develop pilot plant test methodology improvements leading to more efficient use of pilot plant resources, and quicker technology delivery. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and energetic individual with a passion for continuous improvement who wants to have an impact on the technology delivery process. The Test Methodology Specialist will take the lead role in technical evaluation and will be hands on in developing test methodology improvements.
Position Responsibilities: - Technically evaluate current pilot plant test methodologies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to accelerate and improve test methods.
- Design experiments to quantify benefits of new test methods and improvements.
- Present and champion recommendations.
- Work with others such as Development Groups and On Line Analytical to successfully implement recommendations.
- Establish metrics to track test methodology improvement.
- Works at both Des Plaines and Riverside sites, but based in Des Plaines.
Basic Candidate Qualifications: - Minimum BS degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
- Minimum of 5 plus years experience of in the refining, petrochemical, phramaceutical or a related industry developing test methodologies for pilot plant improvements.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is required.
- US work Authorization.
Additional Candidate Qualifications: - Familiarty with pilot plant equipment and operations is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, PI, Plantbook, process simulation, and statistical software.
- Conversant with data management systems.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certified or Black Belt candidate preferred.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, building consensus.
- Self starter - ability to define and carry out tasks with minimal guidance.
- Change Agent who gets results.
- Broad knowledge of UOP process technology is desirable.
- Familiar with pilot plant equipment and operations.
- Knowledge of kinetics, catalyst deactivation, and process modeling is desirable.
- Experience in R&D a plus
