SUMMARY

Under limited supervision conducts incoming evaluation, diagnostic, and final acceptance testing of airborne, commercial, surface ship and sub surface electronic equipment.  Troubleshoots problems to component level.  Utilizes general electronic test equipment, which includes but is not limited to, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, AC/DC clamp on ammeters, HiPot testers, and custom made test fixtures and test consoles.  Maintains and updates status of assigned repair items on a daily basis.  Generates Quality Test Change Requests and Engineering Change Requests as needed.  Maintains and repairs custom made test fixtures as necessary.  In the absence of established procedures, confers with Lead Test Technician, Team Technical Lead, or Sustaining Engineer.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Performs Government Authorized Receiving, Diagnostic, and Acceptance testing of Depot Level Repair items using Functional Test Procedures, Individual Acceptance Test Procedures, Technical Repair Standard Procedures, Quality Test Instructions, and Factory Acceptance Test Procedures.
  2. Tests and troubleshoots complex Printed Wiring Assemblies, Subassemblies and Modules, to the component level, using established test procedures, or engineering procedures, as well as available schematic diagrams. 
  3. Tests and troubleshoots a wide range of electronic equipment returned for repair.
  4. Tests and troubleshoots custom made Test Fixtures and Test Sets, using available documentation. 
  5. Uses available Depot instructions, Production instructions, or Engineering instructions, as well as equipment documentation to effect repair.
  6. Identifies non-conforming material and forwards to engineering for disposition.
  7. Programs and verifies programmable integrated circuits using approved procedures and Quality Assurance software.
  8. Identifies discrepancies and initiates changes and corrections to test documents using a Quality Test Change Request
  9. Documents required rework using Break-out Shop Orders and Technical Repair Standard Procedures.
  10. Documents all test discrepancy information for Failure Analysis Report inclusion.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be able to work well with interdepartmental personnel. 
  2. Must be able to read and understand Engineering Orders, Quality procedures, Test procedures, operating instructions
  3. Must have a good working knowledge of basic analog and digital components and circuitry.
  4. Must be able to correctly analyze and interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  5. Must be able to correctly document specific details of each test failure, as well as document and update daily status of each assigned repair. 
  6. Must be adept at utilization and operation of general electronic test equipment.
  7. Must have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
  8. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to handle and complete multiple tasks within defined  time limitations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two years on the job related experience.
