

Description:
The DPOC Network Monitor monitors and administers the DPA and provides Tier 1 Help Desk support to the DPA community.
Must possess and retain an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
*Performs shift work.
*Performs travel as required in support of the DCGS network to include but not limited to:
-- In support of the DCGS sites/locations.
-- In support of the alternate DCGS location during catastrophic conditions.
*Performs additional tasks within the scope of the contract's statement of work as determined by the Program Manager. The Operations Center is an outsourced activity and the full range of related functions is performed. An example of a related function is equipment installation, which includes rack preparation, fiber termination and validation; etc.
*Monitors and administers the DPA using the monitoring functions of a number of network tools, to include HP OpenView, Cisco Works, and FORE View.
*Responsible for responding to any trouble calls regarding any portion of the DPA, for both the red and black sides.
*Should a network problem arise, the Network Monitor troubleshoots to isolate the problem.
---If able, the Network Monitor fixes the problem.
---If the problem requires further attention, the Network Monitor escalates the problem to the appropriate personnel.
*The Network Monitor is required to document all network issues and maintain a database of problems, errors, and maintenance via the remedy helpdesk.
*The Network Monitor will be required to:
--- Work with the Network Manager, to reconfigure network as necessary (possibly to support distributed operations).
--- Monitor all nodes for operational integrity.
--- Attend to trouble calls.
--- Isolate DCGS network problem(s).
--- Examine trouble/error logs.
--- Provide technical support to resolve the problem or tasking the problem to the appropriate level of maintenance.
--- Document and tracking network problems.
--- Monitor network for performance issues
--- Provide DGS locations with network information (i.e., outages, and upgrades).
--- Analyze network performance.
--- Make network adjustments based on performance analysis - Perform backups for the FASTLANE audit logs.
--- Compile data to create OperatingInstructions in performance of duties.
--- Assist in administrative area, as needed.
*Provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design.
*Provides analysis for implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to network problems.
*Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software. interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges and gateways, etc. *Coordinates third party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with department users and department network administrators.
*May develop uniform operation procedures. Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
*Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
*Performs and supports additional tasks within the statement of work as required by the Program Manager--the operations center is an outsourced activity and the full range of related functions is performed; examples include, but are not limited to: equipment installation, configuration and operation, and fiber termination and validation.
TS/SCI
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors degree in an IT related field or at least 4 years of Help Desk experience.
Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
