Teleflex Medical has an immediate opening for a Tool Maker in Asheboro, NC responsible for specialized construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, dies, jigs, or fixtures.

Asheboro/Randolph County, is centrally located in the Piedmont region within 90 miles of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west and within 200 miles of the Atlantic Ocean to the east.   Asheboro’s central location provides small-town living at its best - close enough to larger cities to have access to the amenities, but small enough to escape such urban problems as traffic congestion, higher unemployment, and an increasing crime rate.  City population is 24,130 with county population of 140,145.

Experience Requirements

Most successful candidate will be experienced working with metal (wire forming, EDM, trim dies etc), blue print reading, milling, and lathes, will have strong troubleshooting experience, excellent communication skills, strong mathematical and measurement skills, previous experience working in manufacturing environment, and must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task. 

Qualification Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent & tool making certification 

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience in medical device industry and FDA regulated environments.

Tools and Equipment

Miscellaneous hand and power tools; various manufacturing equipment; Machine shop equipment such as the surface grinder, drill press, milling, lathe, band saw, and glass bead blaster; Measurement tools such as comparator, micrometer, calipers, surface gauge, and dial indicators.  Use of various machine tools capable of turning, milling, boring and grinding, to fabricate and assemble multiple action dies, cam action dies, drill jigs, and fixtures. 

PRINCIPAL Responsibilities:

 Responsibilities Include:

1. Developing and building CNC fixtures for engineering dept. medical instrument projects.  2.  Use various machine tools capable of turning, milling, boring and grinding, to fabricate and

assemble multiple action dies, cam action dies, drill jigs, and fixtures involving closely coordinated holes and compound dies which combine the principles of blanking, piercing or forming in several separate progressive stages and tools and dies which require adapting an indexing principle to adjust parts of different positions for more than one operation in the same tool.  3.  Interpret blueprints and sketches, tables and charts, verbal and written instruction, make computations and recommend design changes as necessary.  4.  Provide assistance to tool designer on new tooling to be used in expanding tool program.  5. Perform the repair and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.  6.  Check work utilizing various precision measuring devices to ensure compliance to specifications.  7.  Knowledgeable of specifications, standards and required quality of assigned production work.  8.  Notifies Manufacturing Leadership of construction issues, tooling/supply needs and suggests production line improvements.  9. Inspection  Performs in-process quality checks to ensure compliance to specifications.  10.  Position requires direct contact with Implantable Device.
