Ethicon, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Tool Room Technician, located in Somerville, NJ.
Ethicon, Inc. develops and markets products for surgery, wound management and advanced wound care treatment. Products are marketed through four divisions: Ethicon Products for precise wound closure and tissue repair; Cardiovations for minimally invasive cardiac procedures; Ethicon Women's Health & Urology for minimally invasive women's health procedures; and Johnson & Johnson Wound Management for hemostasis and advanced wound care.
The Tool Room Technician will be responsible for the receipt, storage, issue, replenishment and return to storage bins, shelves or other locations, all tools, parts, equipment, paints, materials, and mechanical supplies used by craft and production associates. This individual will maintain control of all chargeable items through receipt and return of employee tool checks, stock requisitions and related records. In partnership with contracted MRO Integrated Supplier, maintains adequate stock levels and initiates replenishment by preparing purchase requisitions, scanning/downloading all stock inventory, and making computer entries in Johnson & Johnson procurement, parts inventory and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software. Conduct periodic and special inventories (e.g., chemical inventories, cycle counts, etc.). Maintain all tools, parts and equipment in serviceable condition and in orderly arrangement, including department motor vehicles.
The Tool Room Technician will issue parts, supplies and tools upon request. Prepare stock or special order purchase requisitions for re-order of parts and supplies when level is low and adjust inventory information. Make computer entries with required job and department information in both the Material Management and CMMS applications. Check requisitions for completeness and record part number and quantities issued. Proactively prepare part kits, as required, to support implementation of planned work according to Craft work plans and schedules. Operate fork-truck/forklift to receive heavy materials (i.e. lumber), automobiles and trucks to pick-up/deliver items. Use handheld, power and shop tools including, but not limited to, wrenches, drills, saws, drill grinders and drill presses. Assist associates in selecting proper tool and, as required. Follow up on return of tools that are out for extended periods. Generate requisitions for materials identified in blueprints or equipment schedules. Receive incoming material and checks actual items received against purchase orders, requisitions and bills of lading, noting any discrepancies or damaged items. Issue non-chargeable items, such as, screws, bolts, washers, etc., from supply in crib and scans/downloads barcode information to maintain inventory at set quantity. Contribute to and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to manage and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Tool Room processes. Conduct periodic and special inventories (e.g. annual chemical inventory, inventory cycle counts, etc.). Ensure adherence to established performance levels, product quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), International Standards Organization (ISO) and Quality System Regulations (QSR) compliance. Perform minor craftwork and physical support to other tradesmen. Complete other tool room and minor craft duties as assigned by management. This position pays $21.93/hour and is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment.
Qualifications
A minimum of a High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Vocational, technical or apprenticeship training preferred. A minimum of 3 years of Millwright, HVAC, Pipefitter, Electrician and/or Machinist experience is required. Experience as a Mechanic in a commercial environment (i.e. manufacturing, industrial) is preferred. General maintenance experience preferred. Experience managing a tool crib or parts distribution preferred. Prior experience in a GMP, GLP ISO, QSR or other regulated industry is preferred. Must be a certified Forklift Operator or be willing to become certified. Must possess a current and valid driver's license. The ability to read and understand blueprints is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred. Experience navigating in a Microsoft Windows environment required. Experience with Material Management software (i.e. CribMaster), Purchasing Systems (i.e. Ariba) and CMMS software (i.e. Maximo) preferred. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player and be able to work with minimal technical supervision. The ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and some holidays is required.
