The Firm is currently seeking a Trademark Paralegal for our Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group located in our
Chicago office. This position reports directly to multiple attorneys within the group and is responsible for handling a range of professional services.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and prosecute trademark applications domestically including electronic filings.
  • Perform and review online searches.
  • Order and review full searches prepared by outside searching services.
  • Work with and advise foreign counsel in connection with prosecution and maintenance of trademarks outside of the United States, including arranging for payment of bills from foreign counsel.
  • Prepare appeal, opposition and cancellation proceedings in the USPTO and manage the same worldwide.
  • Advise clients on appropriate trademark use, review trademark and domain name watch notices.
  • Assist in the intellectual property due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions including creation of schedules therefore.
  • Prepare and file intellectual property assignments, including legalization, in connection with business acquisitions domestically and internationally.
  • Support all phases of copyright and domain name portfolio management with experience in domain name dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with Extranets, CPI and InProtect; prepare trademark status reports.
  • Manage attorney dockets and work with internal docket department regarding deadlines.
  • Other duties as may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and a Paralegal certificate or a 4-year Paralegal degree desired.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience providing exceptionally high quality service to clients.
  • Experience must include: paralegal litigation and trademark experience as listed in responsibilities above.
  • Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and databases experience is required.
