Training Specialist - Operations/Claims & Configuration

The Training Specialist supports the Claims & Configuration Departments with future assessment, instructional design, facilitation, teaching and monitoring educational programs.    
 
Requirement: 1-2 years experience with managed healthcare claims is required
 
Department: Operations / Claims & Configuration
Reports to: Manager, Claims Quality & Development
 
Essential Functions:

  • Teaches, facilitates and assesses training programs for the Claims & Configuration Departments

  • Assesses, designs and develops instructional materials including training manuals, teaching aids, self-paced study and performance evaluation tools.

  • Conducts research for needs assessments and provides written complete detailed recommendations to Manager, Claims Quality & Development

  • Manages group dynamics through use of "learner focused" environment and adult accelerated learning methods.

  • Reviews all programs assigned and continuously ensures standards set forth by Manager, Claims Quality & Development are met 

  • Produces professional color presentations and training materials using MS Word, PowerPoint and other desktop publishing software

  • Revises existing training materials and programs based on audit results, questionnaires, changing procedures and feedback from internal/ external customers, subject matter experts, program sponsors and trainers

  • Coordinates and organizes enrollment of students, assembles necessary program materials, decoration/setup of classroom, shopping for supplies, catering and other functions




Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma, required

  • 1-2 years experience with managed healthcare claims and/or configuration, required

  • 1-2 years direct training experience, highly preferred

  • Experience making presentations to groups of five (5) or more, highly preferred

  • Experience with Government Programs, Medicare and Medicaid, preferred

  • Experience with computer based training

  • Experience in the following areas/competencies is advantageous:

    • Training and development / Corporate University

    • HMO, managed healthcare or Insurance professional

    • Curriculum development specialist

    • Team leader for groups of 25 or more

    • Online training / Computer based learning professional

    • Public speaker / seminar leader

Computer Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required

  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, preferred

Other:


  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time; travel includes multiweek commitments out of state and/or out of country

  • Ability to travel overseas; ability to obtain Passport and/or VISA

  • Ability to be flexible

  • Excellent problem solving skills and critical thinking skills, required 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, required

  • Must be organized and have excellent time management capabilities

  • Must present exceptional professionalism at all times

** Final round of the interview process will require viable candidates to facilitate a training presentation to the interview panel
