About the Job

We are a boutique Tour Operator in the Philadelphia suburbs.  Our open Tour Consultant position is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated detail-oriented individual. We specialize in tailor-made itineraries for both individuals and groups to destinations like East Africa, Southern Africa, Galapagos, The South Pacific, India, Costa Rica and more. Tour Consultants handle the full planning and execution of the program.  Here are some of the essential functions of the position:

  • Discuss the program needs and budget with the travel agent.
  • Choose accommodations and routing that will fit the budget of the client.
  • Plan the full day-by-day logistics, including creating of a full itinerary with descriptions of each place visited.
  • When necessary, book flights (both domestic and international) for the tour program.
  • Determine the selling price of the program, based on company guidelines.
  • Secure all accommodations and other ground services required for the program.
  • Issue air tickets (where required) as well as full tour documentation, etc. for the passenger.
  • Do follow-up with clients for customer feedback.
  • Data entry of traveler information.

In addition to the ability to execute the functions above, here are some of the skills we are looking for:

  • You must be detail-oriented and have excellent geography skills. The ideal candidate will have worked in a retail travel agency or a tour operator and had at least some exposure to high-end clients and international destinations.
  • You should be a good team player and enjoy working in a small office. Our office atmosphere is casual, but serious. At times, you may have to work more than 40 hours a week.
  • Good time management skills and analytical skills are important. You should be able to prioritize and manage your own projects.
  • Along with a high level of verbal and written skills, a solid grasp of Word and Excel are extremely important, as you are responsible for your own correspondence as well as preparing materials for your passengers. SABRE experience is a huge plus.
  • This position has direct contact with clients, so problem-solving skills and customer service skills are key to a successful candidate.
  • If you have personally visited any of our destinations, that’s a big plus.
  • This position combines sales, operations and administrative functions into one position.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. We regret that we will not consider any applications that do not include salary history/requirements, nor will we accept any telephone inquiries about this position. There is no relocation assistance available so only local candidates should apply.
