Truck Driver-Centennial, CO
Position Summary: Heavy-haul delivery, loading, unloading and operation of equipment to and from specified destinations throughout the United States.
Example of Activities:
S Daily and/or weekly heavy-haul transportation of construction equipment
S Proper handling, loading/unloading, securing and hauling of several types of loads
S Recording and maintaining all DOT and WSCI paperwork
S Insure accuracy in driver’s HOS logs, trip sheets and WSCI equipment numbers
S Performance of basic maintenance and troubleshooting on transport equipment
S Routine maintenance and upkeep of transport equipment in clean, current and well equipped mode (i.e. chains, boomers, safety equipment, straps, etc.)
S Assistance to mechanics with major repairs, servicing, erection and disassembly of equipment
S Daily monitoring and reporting of mechanical issues with equipment
S Development of required parts list
S Performance of basic troubleshooting techniques for any repairs required for tractors and trailers (i.e. Electrical, hydraulic, mechanical)
S Climbing of steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
S Proper response to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different color warning tags, warning sirens, etc)
S Trips requiring overnight stays, across various state lines for days and/or weeks at a time
S Ability to read and understand proper permits in various states
Essential knowledge, skills and responsibilities:
S Prefer minimum of High School Diploma or GED
S 5-7 years relevant work experience
S Knowledge of current laws and limits of trucking industry
S Knowledge of various tractor/trailer and construction equipment operation for use in loading/unloading of equipment
S Working knowledge of boosters and jeeps
S Valid Interstate Class- A CDL license
S Valid TWIC Card or ability to obtain TWIC card
S Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
S Must pass DOT physical examination, background check and MVR evaluation
S Ability and willingness to travel up to 100%
S Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard
S Excellent oral and written communication skills
S Must be customer orientated
S Ability to work independently
Valued but not required knowledge, skills and experience:
S All Class A CDL endorsements
S Fork Lift Card
S Bi-lingual Spanish (written and spoken)
Physical demands and work environment: Ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds. Requires willingness, at times, to work in a field (job-site) environment. Expose to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, noise, and other conditions common to a construction site. Contractual obligations may require irregular hours, weekend, and holidays.
