Job Summary:

To collect and utilize data of patients with a diagnosis of malignancy, benign, or questionable tumor(s) that are considered reportable by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and the American College of Surgeons (ACOS)and maintain efficient operations of the tumor registry.

Education:

High school diploma with background in science. Supplemental courses in medical terminology and anatomy preferred

Experience:

Certification by the National Board for Certification of Registrars. Minimum two years hospital or allied health field. Computer literacy required. Medical terminology preferred.

Special Skills:

Certification by the National Board for Certification of Registrars. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of office procedures. Knowledge of anatomy, medical coding, and SEER and TNM staging required. Ability to communicate effectively (oral, writing, and presentation). Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to customer's needs. Ability to recognize and deal with problematic situations and to prioritize. Ability to use critical thinking, analytical thinking, and reflective practice skills. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and cooperatively within a team environment. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Uses discretion in confidential matter
