Job Title: UNIX Administrator (HP-UX)

Overview: Abacus Technology provides development, installation, deployment, operations, and maintenance of C4I systems and planned technological advancements to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). Currently, Abacus is in need of a UNIX Administrator to system support for all UNIX systems in an enterprise level organization. Major Duties & Responsibilities: Setup, install, configure, test, and maintain post-install initiatives for HP UNIX systems. Ensure reliability and data integrity for each server (HP Integrity blade servers, and HP Integrity RX8640 UNIX servers). Recommend, create, uphold, and ensure all UNIX standards including standards for system, security, reporting, and process elements. Ensure all changes to UNIX systems are approved through the proper channels and follow the change control process. Provide research and guidance in all technical matters related to the support and operations of the HP-UNIX systems and networks. Provide technical leadership and direction to all projects requested of the operations department. Provide system and application support as necessary. Maintain 99.9% availability of all networked systems components. Establish, enforce, review, document, supplement, and update or implement backup and recovery strategies. Record and review operational effectiveness, relative network capacity and space requirements including SAN HP EVA8400 switches and HP storage subsystem technology. Work with operations team to manage, support, and provide technical knowledge transfer to entry level system administrators.
Qualifications: 8+ years experience in system administration with at least 5 years supporting HP-UX and data centers. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Certification in UNIX discipline preferred. Excellent working knowledge of HP-UX 11i, operating system concepts and applications for daily systems administration tasks. Superior working knowledge of HP-UX, SAN HP EVA8400 storage system, and other storage hardware including enterprise class systems. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and NIM. Experience with Cisco SAN switches. Experience in Oracle 11g database environments. Experience with HP backup and restore technologies. Knowledge of PC hardware/software principals and operating systems such as Windows 2003.Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide variety of internal and external personnel with emphasis on follow through and reporting. Ability to make modifications to the systems with little or no interruption of service. Ability to organize projects and tasks according to priorities, demonstrate leadership qualities and display ability to communicate effectively project plans and status.
