Overview:

 The primary emphasis of the Underwriting Coordinator is to coordinate the process flow of all data utilized in the underwriting process.   This position plays a major role in the output of the organization by assisting in the procurement of new business through his/her interaction with the Underwriting team, the Sales Organization and other supporting departments within Oasis.

 

Business Contributions:

The output generated by the Underwriting Coordinator is the proper processing of proposal information and closing paperwork.   Three major business contributions of the Underwriting Coordinator to Oasis Outsourcing are:

 

*        Assessing risk to Oasis of prospective clients,

*        Ensuring proper documentation of new clients; and

*        Collaborating with Sales to help ensure margin maximization.

 

Essential Functions: (Percentage of time spent on each task in parentheses)

*         Coordinate paperwork/data flow between departments and intra-departmentally

*         Assess and document collateral requirements

*         Review and make determination of provided collateral

*         Track commissions withheld and report to Accounting and Sales

*         Assist Sales with pricing needs including but not limited to margin maximization, administrative fee credits, and comparison configurations

*         Review closing paperwork to ensure it is complete

*         Basic underwriting for workers' compensation including corresponding with prospective clients to help establish risk type

*         Basic underwriting for benefits

*         Coordinate and prioritize rush review requests

Performance Standards:

 The Underwriting Coordinator performance is evaluated by:

*        Meeting turn around time expectations as set forth by department policy - 60%

*        Sales feedback which will be solicited twice a year through a survey consisting of a randomly drawn sample pool. - 20%            

*        Underwriting team feedback which will be solicited twice a year.- 20%

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

The Underwriting Coordinator is a position requiring strong customer service, organization, math skills.  This individual must have the ability to effectively communicate with executive level staff.  General business acumen is required.
