There is an immediate opening for a Unit Clerk for the Labor and Delivery Unit (night shift).
This position is responsible for assisting both the nursing staff and physician in caring for patients. Will interact with hospital patients, their families and hospital staff. Will prepare medical records for both new admissions and discharged patients. Will transcribe physician's orders according to the RN's instructions, enter and verify physician orders in the Meditech system, answer and transfer phone calls to appropriate personnel and other duties as assigned.
Requirements are as follows:
One to two years Unit Clerk experience in a Hospital setting required.
Current California CNA certificate and BCLS certificate required.
Knowledgeable in Medical Terminology and Medical record forms.
Excellent computer skills both Microsoft Word and Excel and able to type 30 wpm.
Knowledgeable with the Meditech system
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to interact with patients, their families and hospital staff.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
