Usability Researcher

Job Description:
For this contract position, our client is looking for a contingent staff member to be responsible for conducting user and market research to understand the needs and desires of the assigned target audience.

Specific job duties:

  1. Plan, schedule and conduct user research conduct studies
  2. Meet with stakeholders to define research questions, study goals and schedules to create a study proposal
  3. Present study results and recommendations in written reports and PowerPoint presentations
  4. Review and summarize existing data
Responsibilities will also include:
  • Researching, documenting and delivering detailed reviews of competitive products including analysis of product features, design, perceived strengths and weaknesses,
  • Researching, documenting and delivering detailed reviews of the client's products including comparisons to past, current and future competitive offerings
  • Documenting and presenting recommendations based on research and analysis
  • Working with the supervising Usability Engineer or Manager in identifying and addressing critical usability issues


Job Experience:
  • Work-related experience in Human Machine Interaction or usability required
  • Demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data required
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in project management preferred
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field required, or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field with equivalent work experience in Behavioral Science
  • Skills ranked in order of need:
    1. Formative and evaluative lab studies
    2. Benchmark and competitive evaluation lab studies
    3. Survey creation and analysis
    4. A-B prototype testing
    5. Cognitive walkthroughs
    6. Focus groups
    7. Field research/ethnography


Minimum Education Required: Bachelor
