Job Description
Utilities Shift Team Leader; responsible for supervising operation of the entire Power, Steam & Hydrogen Generation Facility to achieve the highest efficiency, most economical operation, and highest quality of finished product consistent with company production, safety, and sanitation standards. Demonstrated excellence in team building, people management, and leadership skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation, strong motivational skills, and good organization and planning skills. Reporting directly to Utilities Senior Team Leader, within the Maintenance Department, and will directly supervise the Utilities shift Associate Team Leaders and some Bargaining Unit employees. This position is located in the Midwest at the company’s corn-wet milling facility, require interaction with both Salaried and Union workforce, and will require 24 hr / 7 day shift work coverage.
Main Responsibilities
· Leadership responsibility for daily operational reliability and energy availability, along with the required support for all production matters.
· Providing support for new programs and projects that affect daily plant operations, including but not limited to scheduling of shift manpower if necessary, training and evaluation of hourly production and operations following established procedures and management programs, and initiation of disciplinary action when required.
· Operating and troubleshooting the steam and power production equipment.
· Planning and initiating maintenance requisitions in order to maintain plant operational performance.
· Administering the employee Performance Excellence Program (PEP) to continually improve manpower performance.
· Directing maintenance activities on a daily basis.
· Participation in the maintenance planning process.
· Coordination with Utilities Department leadership to ensure the availability and reliability of the plant.
· Collaborative work with Production, Finance, Reliability, Corporate Engineering, Technology, and Local and Interstate Utilities.
Qualifications
· BS/BA Degree, prefer in Engineering
· Minimum of 5 years experience in a Steam and Power Production Facility as a Control Room Operator
· Demonstrated leadership / supervisory / management experience
· Technically competent and cross trained in at least two disciplines (Mechanical Maintenance, I&C, DCS, Electrical Maintenance, Chemistry or Operations)
· Demonstrates ability to execute, manage and/or develop projects effectively
· Project management experience preferred
· Demonstrates strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrates basic computer skills
· Demonstrated proficiency using Windows-based operating systems preferred
· Demonstrates the ability to work alone with little or no direct supervision
· Demonstrated statistics understanding, with statistical analysis interpretation capability preferred
