Under the direction of the Health Services Department Training Manager, the Utilization Management Trainer is responsible for training of new UM staff, including both nurses and support staff. This includes but is not limited to: precertification, case management, concurrent review, retro review, prior approvals, MVP Products, MACESS, Facets, MEDecision and InterQual. Coordinates a minimum of 12 Educational In-services annually for the UM staff and coordinates record keeping of all medical licenses for UM staff and MD's. Updates, modifies and/or initiates new training materials, policies and procedures and adjusts training methodologies as required. Ongoing evaluation and training of experienced UM staff. Assists Training Manager in the coordination of the Quality Control Program that is conducted on all UM staff according to established guidelines in order to assure accuracy, compliance with turn around time frames and individual accountability. Tracks QC outcomes, including the initiation of additional training as needed. Coordinates onsite UM staff in-services in order to enhance the UM staff knowledge as it relates to their responsibilities. Occasional off-site travel is required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
· Registered Nurse is preferred,
· Minimum of a Four (4) Year degree in business or the health field is preferred
Minimum Experience:
· Minimum of One (1) year training experience;
· Health insurance experience recommended, but not a requirement;
Required Skills:
· Experience with a PC, including Word and Excel spreadsheets a must;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
