About the Job

 

The position provides Senior Finance leadership in the area of accounting, reporting and expense analysis. This position coordinates and monitors the expense budget, and coordinates, develops and manages the expense charge backs (actuals and budget) charged to the rest of the organization. In addition, this position is responsible for oversight of large project tracking (projects over $5m) with respect to the development and monitoring of cost/benefit analysis and project returns.  This position will also be expected to manage projects to integrate and improve expense reporting and analysis the budget and financial plan, and to support large initiatives requiring expense analysis / reporting support.  This position coordinates the activities of the department level budget coordinators and analysts, creating view of expenses, budget, forecasts and the like.  In addition this position works with senior leaders to coordinate their department views as needed and to support their needs with respect to analysis and monitoring of costs and expenses.  This position is the primary contact for information related to charge backs and is the liaison with Corporate Finance, working with Finance to develop expense policies and budget practices. This position is also responsible for managing the Business Continuity (BC) officer who coordinates the development of BC plans.  Strong relationship and communication skills are critical as this role will be responsible for coordinating with cross-functional teams and supporting business partners with a customer-focus orientation.


 


 



Principal Duties and Responsibilities



Starting with the most important, list the duties, which make up the job’s regular assignments.  This should include all the major duties performed. 


 


         Manage and lead team of 6 expense management professionals and one business continuity employee


         Prepare actual/budget expense analysis for our functional areas on a monthly basis


         Coordinate annual budget development, and monthly/quarterly forecasting


         Support the senior leadership team with their needs with regard to understanding expenses, unit costs, cost drivers in their areas and other analytical needs that those areas may have


         Be the liason with business partners to explain charge backs to those areas and partner with them to improve overall understanding; explore ways to improve reporting with an eye toward improved efficiency through better understanding of cost drivers


         Be the Senior liason with Corporate Finance; develop productive, positive relationships which help position ESG to have a voice in policy creation as it relates to expense policies, budget and forecast methodologies and related topics.


         Support the development of cost/benefit analysis for major intiatitives (over $5m) and monitor expenses and savings, working in partnership with the project lead(s)


         Manage workflow of the team effectively and ensure deadlines are met timely with high quality


         Lead process improvement projects to improve the quality and efficiency of the expense reporting, analysis, budget and planning processes


         Develop the team’s talent,  to attract and rein high performers



 


 


Technical/Professional Knowledge

















 


Required job knowledge and skills:


Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance


        Combination of Big 4 CPA firm experience and corporate experience preferred


       CPA required


        Minimum of 6 years of accounting / reporting experience, with some of that experience in  expense management, analysis, forecasting & planning


         Ability to create positive energy in both individuals and groups

Qualifications or previous experience:


Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance
