What you will do

This position is a business team leader responsible for the aggressive growth of the business. The position will serve as the single point of accountability to manage and drive all sales, marketing, application engineering, product development, and customer service initiatives for multiple brands and channels within the Largo Products Business Unit. The position must promote and champion Johnson Controls' multi-brand/channel strategy, be a strategist and visionary that knows how to implement and deliver on all aspects of the business.

This position is to exemplify the Johnson Controls' Leadership Expectation Model and foster professional and personal employee development through the use of this model, succession planning, career development, GPAS reviews, strategic talent review, and inter-departmental interaction and opportunities. This position is expected to lead by example and foster a culture of winning and accountability in those with direct and indirect reporting responsibility.

How you will do it



  • Analyze the business and create a vision and strategy for market/organic growth three to five years into the business plan. Establish objectives, develop business plans, and implement strategic initiatives to achieve results.

  • Energetically focus on YOY market share growth to a leadership position and achieving a 10%+ ROS business. Recognize market, customer base and customer needs/wants within ever changing environment.

  • Strong customer focus, drive for results in identifying and implementing integrated solutions. Develop close interaction and leadership of sales force, improvement of sales administration, and servicing processes and tools, as well as effective leadership in addressing cost issues.

  • Challenge direct reports with new opportunities to help develop and strengthen skills and the succession planning process within the organization.

  • Build upon existing product, channel, and market strengths. Implement changes is areas of weakness.

  • Seek opportunities for further centralization and consolidation of core functions for efficiency.

  • Assist in annual budget preparations.

  • Reports daily, weekly, and monthly production numbers to Senior Management.

Supervisory:  Manages various departments and management personnel, to achieve successful development and implementation of product line, sales, product development, and customer service. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: BS Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. MBA or appropriate graduate degree highly desirable. Requires 15+ years of related experience. In-depth understanding of HVAC offerings and capabilities. Broad knowledge of the business and technology trends across all markets is required. Must demonstrate excellent presentation, communication, writing and facilitation skills. Ability to adjust strategies and approaches quickly as conditions dictate. Possesses a combination of good process, conceptual, business analysis and problem solving skills. Team leadership and development

Language Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills are required. High proficiency to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. High proficiency to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Excellent problem solving ability is required. Proficient in solving practical problems and can deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have complete working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Other Qualifications: Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time throughout assigned territory.
