I. POSITION SUMMARY
The VP-IT is the senior information technology executive, with enterprise-wide responsibility for planning, facilitating, implementing and supporting all information technology initiatives required to improve business operations and profitability.
II. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Personal Attributers: In addition to being a ‘natural’ leader, the VP-IT must have the experience, business acumen, confidence and professionalism to proactively interact with senior executives to understand the business objectives and strategies. The VP-IT must also exhibit a high level of self-confidence and a healthy respect for industry technology standards and processes. To be effective, the VP-IT must have highly-developed interpersonal skills, a facilitative management style and a passion for meeting commitments and delivering timely and quality services.
Business Requirements:
A ‘solutions oriented’ thinker who is well respected for his/her business and industry knowledge and strong business problem solving skills. Must have the business acumen, experience and executive presence to play a role in formulating business strategies and methods for conducting business.
Excellent understanding of the complexities of business processes and experienced in leading complex business driven IT projects
Change agent focus, when required, who is skilled in ‘change management concepts’ and working as a business partner in a lean but high demand environment.
A decisive, results-oriented manager and leader who can quickly earn the respect and cooperation of both the technical and business staffs.
Technical Requirements:
- Must maintain a long-term business/technology vision that translates into understandable business terms, costs, risk and benefits.
Must have a sound technical foundation, which includes client/server experience and a working knowledge of new and emerging technologies, e.g., WEB technology and applications.
Demonstrated ability to establish/enforce workflow and technology support processes to maximize resource (staff and technology) leveraging while minimizing “renegade” projects which may not fit into the company’s overall technology vision.
A solid background in implementing advanced generation systems, e.g., WEB based applications, that are flexible and efficient, using third party products and services when/if beneficial.
- Must be proficient in leading/managing a high-performance operations function which includes establishing performance metrics to ensure technology capacity is keeping pace with business demands.
Related Experience:
A minimum of seven to ten years’ experience as a manager/director in a large IT organization with experience/working knowledge of applications development, networking, telecommunications, and company-wide support/service delivery.
Must have led the implementation and managed the support function for large operational systems which are critical to the business.
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnering: Collaborate with other members of the senior management team and their respective staffs to ensure the proper alignment of business and technology strategies, plans and priorities.
Strategy and Architecture: Establish an overall IT vision for the company (three to five years), which includes an enterprise-wide strategic technology plan to support both short- and long-term business objectives.
Governance: Develop and drive the adoption of IT standards, policies and practices, e.g., workflow, project and delivery management, that will ensure that the company provides high quality services and establishes a preeminent position in the marketplace. Orchestrate cross-functional IT process and systems change management and solution development.
Sourcing Hire, train, motivate and retain a staff of highly qualified information systems professional. Manage relationships with outside providers (vendors) of services, which include software vendors, systems consultants and outsourcing firms.
Service Management: Establish and support a service / delivery culture, which includes managing day-to-day services to pre-defined SLA’s
Security: Ensure that appropriate controls and security practices are enforced through-out the business and are “security-audit ready”.
Financial Management: Plan and manage to annual IT budgets, which includes on-going management of resource availability and business demands, e.g., maintain balance.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Base Salary: Market based, commensurate with experience
Bonus Awards: Participation in Management Incentive Plan at level TBD
EQUITY participation: Incentive Units (stock option equivalents) at hire date
