Job Description:

• Managerial/Leadership position based in our Mendota, MN office.
• Manages overall coordination, planning and summation of validation work by all engineering functions. Includes determining appropriate metrics and designing and implementing process improvement initiatives across functional groups.
• Develops and implements new test methods in conjunction with customer validation engineers, drive integration experts, and factories.
• Directs capital equipment budget for preamplifier product line of business.
• Works with RC and SERDES validation management teams to drive coordination of lab measurement techniques and lab automation. Includes overall coordination of lab equipment purchase, deployment and maintenance for the organization. Drives benchmarking efforts to determine appropriate validation improvements across the business unit.
• Partners with design engineering leaders on advanced concept projects in conjunction with, head and media vendors and external customers to ensure high quality validation.
• Determines and drives validation engineering continuous improvement projects including documentation of best practices, system automation enhancements and process and methodology efficiencies. Manages deployment and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across NA and APAC sites.
• Coordinates with test engineering leadership to determine appropriate bench and ATE methodology and assignment of resources.
• Develops new approach for “Design for Validation.” Works with design and test engineering and other validation organizations to increase product coverage and reduce time and cost of validation efforts across the business unit.
• Directs training of FAE and APAC Bench engineering on new preamplifier features and platforms.


Job Requirements:

• MSEE/PhD with 12 + years high frequency (4 Ghz+) analog test and instrumentation experience
• Minimum of 5+ years managing technical engineering team
• Demonstrated ability to manage analog IC product validation efforts from early silicon to release-to-manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage efficiency improvements and measurement repeatability leading to improved laboratory throughput with a focus on data collection methodologies, standardization of equipment sets and software automation.
• Proven experience managing a laboratory capital equipment budget
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. Global/virtual management experiences a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of transistor level IC design and hard drive industry experience a plus.
