Vice President, Corporate Financial Planning/Business Analysis

Reporting to the RSC Chief Financial Officer and working closely with other Finance and senior management staff, the Vice President, Corporate Financial Planning/Business Analysis plays an integral part in the budgeting and forecasting process and partners with the CFO in taking Finance to higher standards of performance, enhancing the Company's processes and critically analyzing growth and profit improvement opportunities. Installs best practices and improve processes within RSC Finance and direct the development and preparation of medium and long-term financial plans as well as annual budgets, shorter-term forecasts and variance analysis and business reviews.
 
Financial Planning: Directs the development and enhancement of financial planning processes, including development of an integrated forecasting process. Improves Finance's analytical skills and capability, develops planning standards, and assists RSC functions and departments in the development of planning processes and techniques.
 
Strategic Planning: Ensures that the strategic financial planning process for the Company links to, and fully supports, its long term strategies.
 
Business and Competitive Analysis: Directs the preparation of extensive variance analysis vs prior years, budgets and plans and an accompanying written business analysis to identify problems areas and make suggestions for improvement. Continually develops and analyzes performance metrics. Assesses current market share trends, perform competitor analyses, and evaluate potential business solutions.
 
Business Development: Supports the Company's development strategy and activities by directing the analysis of growth initiatives including new store openings and acquisitions.
 
Performance Reporting: Directs the preparation of financial performance reviews and other formal financial packages for senior management monthly, quarterly, annually and as needed.
 
Financial Performance Management: Serves as a Finance business partner to the field organization and corporate departments to assist in developing growth opportunities and performance improvement.
 
Planning/Budgeting: Leads the annual budget process and presents monthly updates to senior management on performance against budget with special attention to opportunities and risks that will financially impact the business. Shortens the current annual budgeting cycle and enhances process quality by placing more emphasis on operating plans supporting the budgets.
 
People Management: Oversees the recruitment, training, and development of qualified professional employees. Communicates job expectations and fosters a collaborative climate. Provides guidance and mentoring for staff.
 
Special Projects: Performs special projects at the direction of the CEO or CFO.
 
 
 


Extensive finance and business experience preferably including successful track record in a multi-location company or a capital intensive industry where the finance function played a highly-visible role required. Proven successful experience leading an FP&A function in a publicly-held environment along with demonstrated expertise in identifying business drivers, setting targets and performing complex financial analyses required. Comprehensive background in implementing and refining quality financial systems and processes in a multi-location organization or capital intensive industry required. This background is typically acquired in ten or more years' progressively-responsible, related experience in a Fortune 1000 company and coupled with a bachelor's degree in a related field. Relevant, graduate education such as an MBA or certification as a CPA preferred.
 
The successful candidate will possess proven and excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and a strong track record as a team player, coupled with an energetic leadership style and a demonstrated ability for ideating and implementing structured solutions in a fluid situation. The ideal candidate will have the desire, drive, flexibility and breadth of experience/accomplishments to capably compete for the CFO role in the future.
 
Periodic travel is required. Additionally, there may be occasionally heavy travel demands related to particular assignments or special projects.
