Vice President, Manufacturing Operations

POSITION SUMMARY
The vice president of manufacturing/operations reports to the President and is responsible for the direction, strategy, planning and execution of the company’s manufacturing operations and facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage employees and hands-on operation of the company’s manufacturing function
Ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of the physical plant and building
Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness
Develop and monitor a ‘Balanced Scorecard’ of metrics to ensure key manufacturing and operational metrics are being met; communicate Balanced Scorecard monthly to LLC Partners, Senior Management, and review in depth with manufacturing staff
Work closely with the executive management team on manufacturing plans, goals, and future product innovations
Play and active role in senior-level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners
Develop and implement a ‘Lean Manufacturing’ plan
Lead the activities to achieve ISO9000 accreditation
Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins
Direct all production control, materials management, quality systems, purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities.
Partner with sales, business development and engineering teams to ensure customer delivery and quality requirements are being met.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 10 years experience in product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or operations of high-volume plastic component manufacturing in a certified manufacturing organization (ISO9000 or equivalent).
Experience in materials management, from planning through purchasing, and negotiation and administration of multi-million dollar procurement agreements.
Established relationships with the full range of worldwide sub-contract manufacturers & suppliers, and familiarity with their capabilities, pricing strategies, and negotiation tactics.
Success converting engineering prototypes into high-volume production with fast time-to-market and cost-sensitivity requirements.
Ability to be flexible and operate in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
Self-starter and a team player that will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
Large- and small-company experience, ideally in leading manufacturing in a rapid-growth environment.
BS in Engineering (EE, ME, Industrial Engineering) or comparable degree; advanced business degree a benefit.
